Disappointing Facebook Marketplace

This posting is my feelings about the manner of operating the Marketplace rather than the Marketplace service itself.

I posted a listing, actually two listings of the same thing, on Facebook Marketplace. The first one kept blocked whenever I edited descriptions due to being against their “rules for selling.” I sent a “Request a Review,” then they released it without any explanations. However, they finally denied posting my listing. I requested a review and reported a problem in the Help Center as well. I have never received any answers so far, and the listing stays still blocked.

Well, I tried the second listing of the same thing with edited descriptions at a lower price because I had to waste more than a week due to their stupid and unkind customer service. They blocked it as soon as I posted it for about a day. I requested a review, and then they opened it without any explanation again.

It seems that a listing would be reviewed automatically not by a person, but maybe by AI. But I felt offended and even humiliated when I found my listing blocked due to being “against their rules” according to them. I looked through their community policies and commerce rules but failed to find anything wrong in my listing. It is okay to review a listing before posted. But there is no clear explanation like what process I should expect and wait in the meantime. Moreover, I sent several inquiries but didn’t get any answers. As a former customer manager for online community service, it’s a big no. It is never acceptable nor understandable.

If you operate a commercial (0r even noncommercial) online service, you have to provide enough explanations in advance. Even though you feel enough, it would never be enough. When a customer wonders what to do, or how to do, or asks for explanations, you should respond to it immediately or at least before the customer doesn’t feel late because it’s directly associated with trust between you (or the service) and customers.
